2019 Telehealth Stocktake

A comprehensive Telehealth Stocktake was undertaken with district health boards in 2014 and Primary Care Organisations (PHO)/Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) later in 2014. These reports created an excellent benchmark to help understand telehealth activity in New Zealand at that time. The last five years have seen rapid growth in the use of telehealth, so the NZ Telehealth Forum is undertaking new surveys. 2014 PHOs / NGOs Telehealth Stocktake

In 2014 The National Health IT Board commissioned the NZ Telehealth Forum to undertake a stocktake to provide a better understanding of the current uptake of telehealth technologies within New Zealand. This report presents the results of Phase 2 of the stocktake, which received responses regarding surveyed telehealth activity from eleven of New Zealand’s NGOs (Non-Government Organisations) and eighteen of New Zealand’s PHOs (Primary Health Organisations). The DHB Telehealth report presents the results of a survey of telehealth activity in New Zealand’s twenty District Health Boards (DHBs) that was carried out between October 2018 and March 2019 by the New Zealand Telehealth Leadership Group (NZTLG). The survey format was based on a previous national survey in 2014, and a brief survey carried out in 2011 when the New Zealand Telehealth Forum was established.
